Erectile Dysfunction Causes in Young Men

Erectile dysfunction means that a man is unable to achieve and maintain an erection, making the sexual act impossible. Among the causes of this affection are included stress, some medication, high cholesterol levels and even emotional disturbances. According to the recent studies between 18 and 30 million men face this problem.

ED is most common in the elderly, but also the young men can be affected. Recent statistics show that 7-8% of men aged between 20 and 40 experience erectile dysfunction, but too few admit their problem and come to see the physician.

An erection occurs when blood fills the cavernous bodies of two penis (corpora cavernosa), which will expand and strengthen it. This process is conducted by impulses transmitted by the brain and genital nerves. Any blockage of these impulses or blood flow to the penis causes erectile dysfunction.

Young men have psychogenic erection; these are caused by something that makes the brain to release hormones that lead to erection, often in situations where such a thing is embarrassing. These erections may be caused by a series of stimuli: visual factors such as the attractive young woman wearing a short skirt, an olfactory factor, such as a breath of scent that reminds them of somebody.

In general the main cause of ED in young men is psychological. These factors include stress, anxiety, guilt, depression, physical and sexual abuse from the past, low self-esteem, insufficient recovery after the excesses of any kind, and fear of sexual failure. A first sexual failure leads to the next, only because of the fear. This situation can improve knowing that in any man’s sexual life there are sporadic failures.

Erectile Dysfunction Causes in Young Men Mental

Those who tend to exaggerate in terms of affection are more exposed to develop psychological dysfunction because mental mechanisms can create all kinds of inhibitions.

The male sexual dysfunction is also connected with the partner of life and their sexual experience. ED can occur only with a certain partner, otherwise “things” are normal.

Last but not least factor that leads to ED in young adults is an unhealthy lifestyle. Activities like smoking, alcohol abuse, and drug use destroy, in time, blood vessels and reduce blood flow to the penis. Obesity and lack of exercise also contributes to the installation of ED.

A person suffering from ED should consult a specialist from the gynecology ward. The doctor can help their patients not to dramatize the situation and offer a treatment that can remove or reduce the impotence.
